Welcome, we have been working to develop an online Porteous community for some time now. This is our contribution to fostering a community based web site specifically for Porteous & related interest families.
Early on we took the opportunity to register the http://www.porteous.org domain name so that it would be available to the Porteous community. Its worth pointing out that just prior to securing ownership the porteous.org domain had been occupied by a cyber squatter.
Perhaps I should also explain myself and the potential is of this website....
First of all my name is Russ Porteous of family 1307, I was born in Melbourne, Australia, where I continue to reside.
This web site is build on a dynamic content management system called Drupal. According to the Drupal website ''Drupal is software that allows an individual or a community of users to easily publish, manage and organize a great variety of content on a website. Tens of thousands of people and organizations have used Drupal to set up scores of different kinds of web sites.''
Registration is optional however due to the malicious nature of some internet users, a level of registration is required to facilitate quality content and communication. Registrationalso provides users with the ability to subscribe to content and be kept informed of changes.

The more people contributing to the growth of this community the more effective and valuable to the community this site will become. Sure there are other ''Porteous'' web sites, and good luck to them all but porteous.org is a Top Level Domain TLD, a rare piece of internet real estate.
I am blessed to have the resources to supply the software/hardware necessary to host this web site. I enjoy the learning required to implement the content management system, and I find the interaction with other people quite interesting...
Personally I hope to make regular related contributions to the blog] component of this web site, along with the odd story and forum contribution.
