I have been keeping my ear to the ground and have received a suggestion to add "Family Number" to the user database. Fortunately the CMS we are using allows us to create custom fields that suit this feature.
The Family Number illustrates how porteous family groups are distributed throughout the globe.

Family Number 1307
By skphawkshawI have been researching since 1985, my first contact with the Porteous Associates - Australia - was in Feb 1986, the work achieved by that association has been invaluable to myself and other researchers. It's great that Russell has offered this site for the continuing benefit of Porteous family research and family connections. Well done Russ.
